When it comes to preserving, enhancing and beautifying our smiles we all want the best! The best care. The best service. The best results. It's as simple as that!
There's a reason people keep coming to see Dr Sarah Carlson, and that's because she is a unique kind of dentist. Gentle, patient, and caring, her priority has always been her patients, and she takes the time to listen to your concerns first. With her smiling face and no pressure attitude she has become one of the most liked and trusted dentists in Burnsville with many patients coming to her for second opinions after having exams by other doctors.
After completing undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Minnesota Duluth and Twin Cities Campuses Dr. Carlson received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the U of MN School of Dentistry in 2005. In addition to her formal training she has attended hundreds of hours of continuing education courses in all areas of dentistry and has received post-graduate training in Clear Correct orthodontics, implant placement and restoration, and cosmetic dentistry. She says: "Keeping current with evolving techniques and materials is essential to providing state-of-the-art treatment for my patients."
Dr. Carlson will always inform you of any condition she may see and explain your options to you so that you can feel comfortable with the treatment you choose. Rather than being rushed, you know she is there to serve you.
When not making people smile Dr. Carlson spends as much time as possible with her husband, Hal, and their rescue poodle Luna. They are always busy with a remodeling project at home and enjoy time relaxing on the St. Croix River, hiking, downhill skiing and catching up with friends and family.
Sarah is the friendly face and enthusiastic voice of Northstar Dental. She strives to ensure every patient has a comfortable and pleasant experience at our office. With over 14 years of dental office experience, Sarah is very knowledgeable and greatly enjoys dentistry. She grew up here in the Twin Cities and graduated from Dakota County Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Visual Arts. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband, Jason, and their three sons, Kamryn, Brayden, and Logan. They enjoy trips to the cabin, outside activities like fishing and canoeing, and Wounded Warrior Project events.
Mary grew up in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa (go Hawkeyes!) with a Bachelor of Science degree and dental Hygiene diploma. She started as a teaching specialist at the University of Minnesota (go Gophers!) and worked there for six years. Since then, and after taking some time off to start a family, Mary says she has been privileged to work at this practice under some wonderful Dentists, a tradition carried on by Dr Carlson!
The relationships new and old that have been nurtured over the years and the healthy smiles Mary sees are what keeps her enjoying dentistry!
When Mary is not “polishing her skills” she spends a lot of time with her 3 children and her grandchildren too. They enjoy traveling together, family meals and activities that involve her adorable granddaughters.
Matt has gained extensive experience in dental hygiene and periodontal treatment having worked in the field since graduating from Minnesota State University Mankato in 2000. He is committed to helping our patients obtain and maintain optimum oral health. As an avid sportsman he enjoys the changing Minnesota seasons and relishes the opportunities each provides for outdoor adventure. Matt enjoys his Irish culture, gardening, biking, and competitively running in races ranging from 5K to full marathons.
Priding herself on her attention to details and her welcoming manner, Alicia joined Northstar Dental in 2014 bringing over ten years of great experience with her! Alicia began her career in dental assisting in 2003 after graduating from Herzog College Lakeland Dental Division, and has enjoyed being in a position to get to interact with patients and help them feel comfortable in our office. Through the years has had the opportunity to excel in other areas of the dental office so she can answer many questions relating to scheduling and insurance as well as what to expect when you come see us for dental procedures. When not helping make smiles happen in the office Alicia enjoys finding new outdoor adventures, going to the gym and watching her nieces and nephews play sports.
